Turmeric Chai Latte

Time: 20 mins

Serves: 4


  • 2 cups of water

  • ½ cup chopped fresh turmeric

  • 1 tbsp chopped peeled fresh ginger

  • 1 tbsp cardamom pods

  • 2 tsp whole cloves

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • 2 orange pekoe tea bags

  • 2 tbsp honey

  • 2 cups steamed whole milk

  • Ground turmeric (optional)


  1. Bring water, chopped turmeric, ginger, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon stick to a boil in a saucepan over a medium-high heat.

  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.

  3. Remove from the heat, add the two teabags and let it stand for 10 minutes.

  4. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a bowl and stir in the honey (discard solids).

  5. Pour steamed milk evenly into 4 glasses and add ¼ cup of the tea mixture into each glass.

  6. Sprinkle on ground turmeric if desired.
